The Settlers Museum of Southwest Virginia is maintained and operated by the The Settlers Museum  Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization. Since 1987, the museum has been primarily staffed with volunteers. From greeters, to demonstrators, to maintenance folks, the fact is, the museum would not be able to continue its educational mission if it were not for the many dedicated volunteers who have contributed time, ideas and energy to the museum over the years.
The Settlers Museum is growing by expanding it's educational programs, continuous partnerships with various organizations and grounds and building improvements. While all this growth is exciting for everyone involved, no more than ever the museum is in need of volunteers. Simply by dedicating just a day or two a month you could be making a difference by giving back to your local community!
 Would you be interested in being a historic interpreter, greeting visitors, teaching school kids, maintaining flower beds, or maybe you could give us a hand with some maintenance work?
Would you be interested in having fun doing what you enjoy while surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery around?
How about "working" with a fun and like minded bunch of folks while also meeting new and interesting people from all over the country?
Skills of all kinds are needed, and our volunteer roster includes senior citizens as well as teenagers, and ages in between. Our visitors are enjoyable to work with, and we offer a pleasant, safe, and convenient work environment and schedule.
