The Settlers Museum strongly advocates the support of our neighbors and friends by purchasing goods and products that are grown, crafted, and manufactured in our region.

We don't see the sense in spending hard earned money on foods
from foreign markets with the availabity of locally grown produce and meats such as free range beef, lamb, pork, poultry and trout fresh from local waters. In addition to the local foods, we also recommend supporting local artisans who are working hard to produce quality mercandise for you.

When you buy goods made by local workers and craftsmen your money stays in the community so that the whole area profits rather than large corporate businesses that have owners living far away.

Organic family farming was the traditional farming practice used here in the mountains. By getting back to a traditonal way of life in
Southwest Virginia, thousands of small family farms will survive while you and your family will be healthier and feel a sense of pride in helping your neighbors.
